Dead Rising website awakens (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Screens
The atomic bomb of a few days past has had enough time to send shivers of excitement over the entire Wii community, and now a groin-grabbingly atmospheric website has been delivered by Capcom, adding fuel to the fire of Dead Rising. Details are scant at present, but a number of Wii screens have popped up that look mighty fine.
VC Friday: 'Arrrr's and cars (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Virtual Console, WiiWare
It's a double WiiWare update for this Friday, PAL peeps. Oxygen's Pirates: The Key of Dreams is an unknown quantity, but appears to be some kind of piracy-themed scrolling shooter with strategic elements. If that sounds like it has potential, the footage we've seen so far (viewable, as usual, after the break) isn't filling us with bright-eyed optimism.
Another Week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 7/7-7/13 (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Another Week in ...We're kind of glad to see Persona 4 blow away the competition in software, even if it's not a Wii game (cough -- it should be). Nothing else really sold all that well, not even the games in the top ten. Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii keep piling on copies to their ever-growing mountains, though, and remain snug in the top ten.
E308: Nintendo exec alludes to Wiimote refresh with built-in MotionPlus (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Rumors
Your Wiimotes might be outdated pretty soon, that is if Nintendo's Katsuya Eguchi is to be trusted. During a developer roundtable, he alluded to the possibility of a hardware refresh on the Wii's motion-sensitive controller, one that would include the new MotionPlus functionality, commenting "as to looking at whether or not it will be an attachment or built in - we're always looking at how hardware should evolve and where we should take it.
We're pulled in by Gravity (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Video, Screens
Being nice to look at is hardly essential for a puzzle game, but that's not to say we're opposed to easy-on-the-eye puzzlers such as World of Goo. Deep Silver's Gravity is another entry in the genre that is also a looker, with each of the title's 100 puzzles featuring a unique, hand-painted background (IGN has bigger screens if you want to admire them some more).
WRUP: Stuck in a tin can edition (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: What are you playing?
Well, by the time you all are getting your read on here, I'll be pretty close to being back at the home base. Once I get back to my usual blogging grounds, business will resume as normal around here. As it stands right now, E3 may have come and gone, but we still
June NPD: Snake can't break Nintendo hegemony (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, SalesSolid Snake, schmolid shnake. Try as the PlayStation 3 might, even the North American debut of Konami's most famous son and a drop in Wii sales couldn't prevent a Nintendo one-two for the fifth month running.
DS: 783K 368.2K (+88.7%)
Wii: 666.
E308: Wii Fanboy bats-on with Mario Super Sluggers (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Features
Seeing as how the game has been out in Japan for quite some time now (and releasing here in little over a month), you've probably seen and heard all their is to Mario Super Sluggers. But, we'd be remiss if we didn't do our duty and sit down with the game and enjoy some time at the ballpark.
E308: Naruto tries out the new Interview Jutsu (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Video
We've seen screens, dabbled a bit in gameplay footage -- now it''s time to get a word in edgeways from Glenn Stotz, introduced as a Naruto "product specialist." A paid Naruto fanboy, perhaps? And here we are watching the series for free like suckers, when we should be raking in the cash.
E308: Onechanbara ogled (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News
D3 showed off an early version of Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers in their conference room. And by "early version of Bikini Zombie Slayers," I mean "final Japanese version of Onechanbara Revolution." The retail game. Even so, I wasn't allowed to play it! Isn't that weird? And not in the funny, campy way that Onechanbara is usually weird.
E308: E3 no longer ideal for core games -- Miyamoto (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: InterviewsShigeru Miyamoto has weighed in on the grand debate that has raged over Nintendo's E3 press conference, addressing fan complaints that not enough "core" titles were shown. According to Shiggy, the shortage of more traditional games could be attributed to one thing: E3.
E308: Dress up with Onechanbara (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Screens
If there's one essential zombie-killing accessory that's often overlooked in survival guides, it's the feather boa. If you don't look good, you won't feel good, and if you don't feel good, you're not kicking a bunch of zombie ass. You can't argue with that; that's science.
Underneath Underworld (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Video
With the Tomb Raider series really delivering the goods in Legend and Anniversary, hopes are at an all-time high for the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld. Lara Croft can't seem to stay out of trouble, and all logic suggests she should settle in to a nice teaching job or a part-time psychology course.
Wii Warm Up: E3 (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Wii Warm Up
Because we've also asked DS fans, we thought we'd pose the same question here: how would you rate the Wii's E3?Despite the angry tidal wave of criticism over what many (but not all) saw as a disappointing Nintendo keynote, the more recent announcement of a third Pikmin game seems to have tempered the outcry a little.
Post-E3 Wii Fanboy/Joystiq reader meetup in photos (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Meta
Yeah dude, that's totally Mike Sylvester there at the meetup last night. Other surprise guests showed up, as well as tons and tons of readers (who, in turn, walked away with tons and tons of free swag). Overall, it was a great success. You wouldn't believe how fast pizza goes at a Joystiq meetup! For those of you who had to sit this one out, relive the fun by checking out our photo gallery below.
Riccitiello: 'I hate E3 like this' (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Another day, another E3 complaint. Yesterday, Alain Corre of Ubisoft commented on the size and location of this year's E3, wanting it bigger and better. Today, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello joined the party, outright stating "I hate E3 like this." Hate is such an ugly word.
E308: WiiSpeak with Mario (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News
Nintendo's WiiSpeak demo was one of the freakiest things that happened during E3. Basically, Nintendo had an Animal Crossing demo running in their conference room, with a WiiSpeak mic connected. In an undisclosed location somewhere else in the convention center, Charles Martinet was also playing City Folk, with a Mario-style avatar, and riffing in the Mario voice with whoever happened to wander by.
E308: Hudson USA reels in two fish games (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, WiiWare
This week, Hudson Soft announced two new games for North American Wiis, both with distinctly aquatic themes, though viewed from fairly different perspectives. The Fishing Master sequel, Mezase!! Tsuri Master Sekai ni Challenge!, is coming out this winter under the title Fishing Master World Tour.
E308: Imagine Rabbidz (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News
I couldn't think of a worse place to demo Imagine Party Babyz than E3. There are no very small children, no casual gamers, and no ... whoever else could conceivably be expected to be in the audience for the Imagine series -- just jaded, bitter journalists.
E308: Crash Bandicoot crashes the party (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Video
We're not sure if this Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant trailer embodies the spirit of the Crash we used to know and love, but we'll probably be giving this platformer some looks anyway. What we've heard so far sounds good, and as Wii owners, we like being catered to.
Friday Video: Wii Sports Resort Sword Play at E3 (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Friday Video
Well, so much for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Really, as much as we love the thought of using our Wiimotes as Lightsabers, we don't think such duels will be able to compare to the Sword Play in Wii Sports Resort. That's right, we went there.
