Developers dish on My Life as a King on the Nintendo Channel (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Video, WiiWare
While we do love all different kinds of trailers and videos to spaz up our normally dull internet lives, we really appreciate when we come away with something useful after watching one. That's why we love developer's diaries, especially ones that involve the beloved Square Enix, and especially when said Squeenix game is WiiWare's My Life as a King.
Parish: 'Mega Man 9 may save video games' (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Fan stuff
When someone leads off an article like that, it's hard not to highlight it. 1up's Jeremy Parish thinks Mega Man 9 is a great idea, but not just because it looks neat, and not because of nostalgia. In his estimation, the return to the style of Mans 1-6 signals an admission on Capcom's part that NES-era technology suits the series best in gameplay terms.

Did you know that some people really like Nintendo games? It's true! Samba de Official Website (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News
An official website for Samba de Amigo has sprouted, full of soothing, subtle shades of lilac and sky blue, and accompanied by a gentle classical soundtrack.Oh wait, no, we got that wrong: said website is actually THE LOUDEST THING EVER. That's fine though, because this is Samba de Amigo, and as such any official website needed to be obnoxiously loud and bright, the visual equivalent of having Ricky Martin blasted into your eardrums through a loud hailer from within two inches.
Zelda bedding: perfect for those cold Hyrule nights (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Fan stuff
It's official: not only is Wii Fanboy the web's leading resource for all things Wii, we're also the number one online source of Zelda bedding. This is the third Zelda quilt we've featured on the site, and it also happens to be the cheapest so far -- a mere $135 will buy you this queen-sized duvet, as stitched from 2" squares of real Octorok skin cotton.
Mr. Bean wandering to Wii (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Imports
We haven't been so confused by a game announcement since we first heard about Major League Eating: The Game. We like Mr. Bean, and we like 2.5D platformers, so the announcement of Mr. Bean's Wacky World is at least good news, mathematically. But it doesn't work like that.

This week sees the Virtual Console receiving only one game, but, thankfully, it's a good game. Never played King of the Monsters before? Well, hit up the video above for some gameplay footage, then head past the break for more.

First footage of Mega Man 9 (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Video, WiiWare
Here's a little confidence-builder for all those developers out there wanting to go in the opposite direction of technological progress. Huzzah, the entirely new Mega Man 9 for WiiWare is essentially an 8-bit game, with terrible graphics, sound and animation.
Relax in Chocobo's Dungeon with screens and videos (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Video, Screens
We're one day away from the release of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, which can only mean one thing: media blitz. Not that we're complaining; the graphics for this title aren't anything too special, but you can't deny that the Square Enix polish makes the game look pretty.
Active Life screens for the whole family except Dad (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Screens
Hey, don't feel too bad. Just because you haven't heard of Active Life: Outdoor Challenge is no reason to shed those tears. Wii Fit is great and all, but you need something more. Something to do with a big island of fun, apparently. With a bunch of games and a new mat, it's pretty obvious that peripheral-crazy Wii gamers will dig this latest installment into no holds barred gaming fun.

Wii Warm Up: Inspiration (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Wii Warm Up
The folks at High Voltage shamelessly admitted to us in an interview that their upcoming game, The Conduit, takes a little more than inspiration from some of the biggest FPS games we've played and loved over the years. They may be among the few who admit to being a little derivative, but many games are pretty obviously pulling from movies, media, and other games.
Harvest Moon: Ostrich of Mobility (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Screens
Natsume is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of the Harvest Moon franchise* in the best possible way: with new Harvest Moon games. They released new screens today of the Wii farming game Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, which feature all the best parts of Harvest Moon: planting stuff, caring for animals, riding around on an ostrich -- wait, what? In case all the tomato-growing hadn't quite lured you into the world of Harvest Moon yet, maybe the allure of awkward livestock vehicles may do the trick.
Joystiq tests Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News
Just like you, we're dying to get our hands on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It looks like a good Star Wars action title, one that might even stay with us long after we've completed, just as Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II did. Thankfully, our cruel overlords at Joystiq got to enjoy some time with the game, taking care to write down their thoughts for us all.

In an interview with Gamasutra, Microsoft big cheese Aaron Greenberg ended up discussing the rivalry between the Xbox 360 and Wii, and in the process loftily dismissed Nintendo's console as a "novelty." Greenberg compared Wii buyers to "the same people that buy a karaoke machine," and suggested that the console was simply "something break out when people come over, and it's maybe a fun thing [.
