VC Tuesday: Reopening the case
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Virtual Console, ImportsJake Hunter: Detective Chronicles on the DS didn't really set the American gaming community on fire, in terms of sales or critical response. The American debut of Workjam's detective series was marred by text errors and omitted content that caused the game to lose points with reviewers, and it just flew too far under the radar for even the Phoenix Wright audience to hear much about it.

Wii Warm Up: Building a tower
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Wii Warm UpQuite a specific Wii Warm Up this morning, in that it's just for World of Goo players. Having recently started the game (remember that it only came out in Europe recently), I'm still only on the third chapter, but find myself constantly drawn back to the "World of Goo Corporation" mode.

Nintendo serves up Mario Tennis trailers
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: VideoOver at the official site for the Wii de Asobu (Play on Wii, or NEW PLAY CONTROL!) series, there's a pair of Japanese commercials for the Mario Power Tennis remake, as well as a far lengthier gameplay trailer. The adverts we can take or leave, consisting as they do of the usual telegenic Japanese families bouncing around their pristine living rooms.

Another Code Resplendent
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Imports, Video, Screens With the release of Another Code R just one month away, Nintendo has started posting brief clips of the game in action. It seems every bit as relaxed and laid-back as the DS titles, though we suspect these soft-focus visuals and mellow soundtrack are a cunning facade for some brutally hard puzzles.

Capcom details Euro, North American releases for Q1
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News Capcom is set to release two high-profile Wii titles during Q1 of next year: MotoGP and Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. Even though the latter has caught some flack for its failure to populate each and every screen with countless zombies, it's still a pretty important title for Capcom.

We concur: Edge's most promising Wii games of 2009
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News We don't usually post about the various end-of-year lists that appear on other sites (we much prefer composing our own), but Edge's "ten most promising Wii titles of 2009" chart was so close to our own 2009 wishlist that we felt it warranted a nod.Understandably, only super-confirmed 2009 releases are included, so this selection may change over time (if, say, a Fragile localization is announced, or No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle makes this year, or Nintendo randomly springs the new Zelda game on us, or -- LOL -- Nintendo does a new Pilotwings), but so far we think this is spot-on.

Wii Sports best-selling game of all time?
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Rumors Super Mario Bros. has been the best-selling game of all time for years now, but that throne may have been usurped by another Nintendo title: Wii Sports. According to VGChartz, Wii Sports has surpassed that coveted 40.24 million mark. We're keeping this a rumor because, uh, it's VGChartz.

Animal Crossing: City Photo Contest
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, Imports One of the more fun, and less discussed, new gameplay additions in Animal Crossing: City Folk is the ability to take snapshots and save them to an SD card for sharing. Nintendo and their Digicam Print Channel partner, Fujifilm, are taking advantage of the new functionality with a new contest for Japan designed to encourage online photo sharing.

Sorry, no VC Monday Madness video today
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Meta Sadly, we won't be able to provide our usual video coverage of this week's Virtual Console release. While we'd like to blame something technical, in fact it's a person that is keeping the video from being made. Sadly, Dave is under the weather, and as such has a pretty sore throat and can't really speak correctly.

New Play Video: Pikmin
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Video We're way into the New Play Control version of Pikmin. Even eight years after its original release, Pikmin remains one of the fresher and more unusual Nintendo franchise games, and the Wii version only improves on it!In this video, Wii Folder's Josh Thomas (standing in front of the screen like a weatherman) introduces the game in a manner appropriate for people who have no idea what Pikmin is.

Wii's winners and losers in Japan
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News, ImportsWe can't exactly trust the validity of the numbers used to create this list of best-selling games across the three home platforms, since it's just some guy on Geocities doing it (and he claims that he might alter numbers to deter copying) but they're close enough to our expectations for most games.

Top 5: Resolutions for Nintendo
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Top Five After being MIA last week, it's nice to be back. I hope you were able to get your fill of inflammatory statements and grammatical errors from another blogger. And most importantly, I'm glad you're back. While I was away with loved ones, I did like many other of my countrymen and did not hold back on food and drink.

We Ski and Snowboard through lovely scenery
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Screens For a cutesy game about cartoony, low-detail characters in vast expanses of snow, Namco Bandai's We Ski series looks a lot better than it needs to. Not that we're complaining! We'd always prefer to enjoy looking at a Wii game whenever possible, and developers don't always enable us to do so.

Wii Warm Up: Cheated
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Wii Warm UpThe latest It's-a Mario World put us in the mood for some discussions of retro-style game secrets. Let's go old-school and share some old cheat codes! What are your favorites? And by "favorites" we mean "codes you can recite from memory." And not just the Konami code, either! For some reason, though a whole childhood was spent meticulously copying codes out of magazines for schoolyard friends (oh, wow, that was totally piracy!) as soon as this topic came to mind, we thought of the Ikari Warriors II continue code.

Wii Fanboy Interview: Headstrong talks House of the Dead: Overkill
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Interviews House of the Dead: Overkill launches pretty much everywhere next month, and looks set to be a mini-upheaval for Sega's venerable lightgun series. While shooting zombies in the face still plays a major role, Brit developer Headstrong Games has introduced a '70s horror theme, time manipulation, new enemies, and a ton of extra content.

2D Boy 'honored' by Peter Moore's World of Goo ignorance
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: NewsEurogamer posted its "Top 50 Games of 2008" list last week, and was immediately scolded by EA boss Peter Moore for daring to exclude FIFA 09. This story was picked up by numerous sites, but one detail that wasn't so heavily reported were Moore's views on the game that came tenth, World of Goo.

'Would you like a subscription to Cosmo with your Wii Fit today?'
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: News We've all likely been accosted by a Gamestop employee, at one time or another, about a subscription to Game Informer or a strategy guide to go along with the title we were planning to pick up or something. Well, it would seem that Gamestop is perfecting their craft, targeting folks with a need for exergaming with subscriptions to mags such as Cosmo and Redbook.

Born for Wii: Mario Sunshine
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Born for WiiNow that 2008 is tightly packed away into our memories and the glorious new year is unfolding before our very eyes, we're caught between looking backwards at what 2008 imparted upon us and anticipating what 2009 has to offer. Even though Born for Wii is all about looking backwards, it's hard not to be excited about what this year is bringing to the Wii: in just a couple months, the New Play Control version of Pikmin will be hitting the States, and it will be good times.

Deca Synchronized Swimming, and more new sports
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: Imports, Screens The first Deca Sports, while selling well, wasn't a perfect game, generally failing to achieve the (high) standards Wii owners expect from their sports minigame collections. Maybe Hudson will work to improve the quality of the gameplay in the new sequel, Deca Sporta 2.

Rumor: NiGHTS was once a 360/PS3 game
(via Nintendo Wii Fanboy) - Filed under: RumorsOkay, this is all pretty tenuous, but super interesting: apparently, a Sega of Europe employee kept a blog last year in which he revealed some stuff about NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams that he shouldn't have, well before the game's release. The posts have since been removed, but the Wayback Machine allows us to have a look back!According to the blog post, Journey of Dreams was originally developed as an Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 title, and was hastily shunted to the Wii when the platform's success became obvious -- despite protests from director Takashi Iizuka.
